Cllr Andy Perkins, leader of the Labour Party South Gloucestershire Council

Cllr Andy Perkins has served as one of three councillors for the Kingswood ward of Woodstock on South Gloucestershire Council since May 2003. He was Chair of the Council’s Community Care & Housing Select committee from 2007 to 2011 and Deputy Leader of the Labour Group from 2009 to 2011. In May 2011 he became Leader of the Labour Group.
In his working life, Andy worked as a Senior Research Associate at the University of East Anglia from 1995 to 1998 and as an IT consultant with Norwich Union from 1998 to 2000. He then moved with his family to Hanham and became a house-dad/husband for 18 months before working as an Information Analyst for UBHT (now University Hospital Bristol NHS Trust) and then the RUH, Bath from 2001 to 2006. In 2006 he resigned from RUH, Bath to concentrate on his roles as a councillor and house-dad/husband.
