SAVE THE DATE – Recommissioning the Increasing Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) Programme in Bristol and South Gloucestershire meeting: Wednesday 13 December 3-5pm – Vassall Centre, Bristol

Dear colleague

I am writing from The Care Forum to ask if you would be able to support the NHS recommissioning of Increasing Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) services across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

As you may know, IAPT offers individual therapy, groups and courses to help people with managing their mental health at a primary care level. The approach being taken to recommissioning IAPT is based on:

  1. a perspective that recognises that mental health problems are connected with wider social determinants such as employment/unemployment, social isolation, debt/poverty, stigmatisation, housing and poor physical health;
  2. an approach that will therefore seek to properly connect IAPT provision to (and from) the existing services and interventions that engage with these wider determinants of mental health.

We are contacting you because we believe that your organisation – and the people you work with – are well placed to shed light on how these linkages can be made. We would therefore like to offer you three opportunities to contribute to this consultation.

1)   Support and coordination from The Care Forum in conducting a focus group with the people you work with, between now and 12 of January 2018 –  If you are interested in helping to set up such a focus group please contact events@thecareforum.org.uk

2)   A consultation meeting for voluntary and community sector organisations in Bristol and South Glos on the theme of IAPT – to be held on 13 December from 3 to 5pm – please find the flyer for this attached (if you are based in North Somerset you should already have received a flyer for the corresponding event there on 7 December)

3)   An online survey which can be filled in by you and the people you work with – you will receive a link to this shortly

Please feel free to take up any combination of these opportunities.

Best wishes.
