Safer and Stronger Communities strategic partnership

The Safer and Stronger Communities strategic partnership is the third themed partnership which supports the South Gloucestershire Partnership in its work.  It is chaired by Cllr Paul Hughes, and its member organisations currently are

The partnership’s  primary purpose is to

  1. establish a strategic direction; co-ordinate and help deliver actions that support the development of safer and stronger communities within South Gloucestershire;
  2. exercise the functions of the statutory Community Safety Partnership for South Gloucestershire;
  3. encourage, support and propose actions that will help achieve the agreed aims set out in the South Gloucestershire Sustainable Community Strategy namely to:
    – reduce crime, the harm caused by illegal drugs and alcohol and to reassure the public, reducing the fear of crime and anti-social behaviour and improve safety in homes and public spaces.
    – empower local people to have a greater voice and influence over local decision-making and the delivery of services by increasing the strength, capacity and engagement of local communities to create local solutions
    – improve the quality of life for these people in existing and new communities in greatest need through targeted service delivery.
